Cassava Cottage Processing and Marketing Association

The Cassava Cottage Processing and Marketing Association is a group of beneficiaries who have a public/private partnership arrangement with Federal Ministry of Agriculture & Rural Development and Bank of Industry (BOI). The designed arrangement is to move the nation forward agriculturally through value addition.

It is a community-based group of crop processing factory owners nationally spread out to transform the industrial setting of our rural areas using Agro-business as it's weapon. It has the potential to be the largest employer of labour in the rural areas of the country. To stimulate members registration with relevant agencies e.g. NAFDAC and to ensure quality, provide markets and coordinate members productivity for export to increase income as well as boost the nation's economy.

History of it's formation

The Federal Department of Agriculture organized a training workshop and a general meeting of the factory beneficiaries during which the formation of the association was agreed upon. The beneficiaries of the cassava crop processing factories came together to establish a stable platform through which the individual factory could relate with the Government, Organizations, Banks and Markets to:

Ensure quick loan repayment of the individual beneficiary.

Ensure quick loan repayment of the individual beneficiary.

C

To hasten commodity factory industrialization and promote exportation of the processed products that satisfy international measures.

Specific Objectives

I.

To manage, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD) provided cottage crops processing factories for effective use and quality processed cassava products under public /private partnership (PPP).

II.

To provide support for the cottage crops processing factory participants in the provision of competitive market-based cassava tuber processing business.

III.

To provide linkages that guaranteed markets and reducing post-harvest losses.

Group Concept

The group concept embodies the facilitation of good agricultural processing activities with the aim of motivating the investors towards the production of improved value-added products in order to meet local market demands as well as volume for exportation.
